Quick summary

Navigating to the Site Editor →Styles →Colors →Buttons and selecting colors for the Button background and text does not render any visual changes upon selection. The color doesn't update and instead continues to display the default settings from the theme after changes have been made.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Activate the Munchies theme.
  2. Open the Site Editor, and go to Styles.
  3. Select Colors and then Button.
  4. Change the Background or Text color.

What you expected to happen

The buttons’ colors should change accordingly.

What actually happened

The colors don’t change at all and remain with the default colors.

📌 SCRUBBING : RESULT - Replicated / Could Not Replicate / Uncertain

📌 FINDINGS/SCREENSHOTS/VIDEO

  • Replicated just as described above. Munchies theme buttons do not respond to Global Styles color changes for buttons:

For comparison, tested in theme Zaino and Twenty Twenty-Three - buttons in these themes respond to Global Style color changes.

📌 ACTIONS

  • Marked as Triaged for Quality Squad review
  • Transferred to Themes repo
  • Added to 'Bug scrub planning' project board

📌 Message to Author

  • Thanks @NatzJoy for that gutenberg link! This definitely could be reflective of that larger issue. Since this issue doesn't present across all themes, though, for now I'll transfer to the Themes team to take a closer look.
