Request

Pages and posts have revisions which are accessible contributors and other higher user roles. I'd like to see the same functionality added to Reusable blocks, and better expose their view/edit options.

This would benefit users by:

  1. Providing a granular a revision history in a familiar format.
  2. Providing better visibility of what changes are being made by which user on multi-author/editor blogs.
  3. Enabling them to quickly roll-back inadvertent updates, or go back to a previous preferred version of a block.
  4. Creating a route for a "quick fix" route for issues such as the recent infinite loop issue.

 

What

Users editing Reusable blocks are shown a familiar "Revisions" link/prompt under "Status & visibility" in the sidebar. Example:

Clicking the link would take the user to a familiar revisions page titled, Compare Revisions of “XYZ Reusable Block at a URL using the existing revisions format, eg. https://DOMAIN_NAME.COM/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=123456
