Quick summary

While working on the mobile view of my site, through a browser not the Jetpack app, I was unable to see the blocks as I was working on them, especially for text. My screen would allow a certain amount of content to be seen, but anything below that point would be automatically hidden once the keyboard was opened.

Patterns could be added and edited as normal, but individual text blocks including Headers, Quotes, and Paragraph blocks were all affected.

Gutenberg: v18.8.0-rc.3
Editing Toolkit: 4.28277
Simple Site

Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Activate Gutenberg v18.8.0-rc.3 on simple site
  2. Create new Post or Page in mobile browser view
  3. Add an image or other spacer content to move the preview so a new text block would be below the keyboard once that opens
  4. Try to add new text or edit existing text, the page will jump to above the selected block

What you expected to happen

I can select and edit text blocks on my site with the text visible as I work, as I can on my other sites in mobile view.

What actually happened

When I try to edit a block with text, or add new blocks to the page, the preview jumps up and all content I'm working on is covered by my keyboard.*

If I add a pattern with text, I can select and edit that as I expect, but if I try to add a new block below that, the issue reoccurs.

I do not have an iPhone and it looks like this will be hard to replicate in a simulated environment.

@jartes, @retnonindya, if you have iPhones, could you please:

  • Try to reproduce this in dotcom.
  • Test it in core (and open a core issue if you can reproduce it).

Thank you!

I can replicate it. iPhone Pro Max 13, browser Safari. Both on Dotcom and Core (I tested using my Pressable site with Gutenberg plugin ver. 18.8.0)
