What

"Can we leverage this responsive preview feature, to enable responsive editing?" ~ @jasmussen

Why

We frequently see cases where people make a site look nice on mobile, but it looks bad on desktop, or vice versa, because Gutenberg doesn't yet offer finer control over responsive blocks.

How

I'm opening this mainly to track this issue: WordPress/gutenberg#19909

There's a discussion there. Some ideas I've seen in feedback and other discussions that could help:

  • Let users hide a block on mobile or desktop (people have been using CSS to hack this)
  • For background images, allow users to specify different focal points for different screen sizes
  • Allow users to specify font sizes for different screen sizes
  • Allow different margins/padding/spacing for different screen sizes

Updated the priority of this to "normal" from no priority as part of board cleanup.
