DataTemplates for Completition popup

If I understand properly, the only way to provide data templates for displaying completion model is through App.DataTemplates (application level) because it's a Popup control.
I wonder whether it could use data templates from parent TextEditor control instead?
I think that would make sense, because often those data templates are localized. No big deal though, just a bit more neat solution.
