From Kubernetes 1.23, containerd will be the default container runtime for Windows.
The way I understand this is, Docker is still supported in Kubernetes 1.23
As per the Release Notes for 1.24 here: Releases · Azure/AKS · GitHub
Docker will no longer be supported as a container runtime on Windows after September 1, 2022.
As per the Calendar here for 1.23 End of Life is 1.26GA (This would be > September 1, 2022): https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/aks/supported-kubernetes-versions?tabs=azure-cli#aks-kubernetes-release-calendar
Question : What does it mean for AKS clusters which are still on docker as container runtime post 1st September?
- Does it mean docker will still be supported for clusters on K8s 1.23.x version?
- Does it mean Clusters with Docker on k8s 1.23 will be "Out of Support" and would need to be upgraded to containerD?
