Searching media Pattern

Do you know how works the pattern for getMediaByHashtag() function?

This function consider the post date for arrange some chronologic images?
There is a date limit for searching? For example, don't getting old images... something like that?

I put a specific count parameter and the function returns me another number. (Example, I put 10, they return me 8)
