No error output when writing to read-only filesystem on CARTA controller

There appears to be a bug on the CARTA controllers running v4.0.0 (e.g. the ilifu CARTA controllers). I used to have an error displayed when I tried to export regions to a filesystem that is read-only, but now I get the attached, confirming the region has been exported. But when I look in the directory, the region isn’t actually written.

1. Can you confirm that the same region file above is correctly written if you try to write to a valid directory?
2. what happens if you write a region to a read-only file when running the standard version of CARTA?

1. Yes, it works fine.
2. What do you mean by the standard version? The desktop version? Would the effect of having a read-only directory be the same as a filesystem mounted as read-only?

That's what I thought, but I tried this on my local machine and it threw an error, as it should 🤔 So something odd is going on

I guess this is a backend issue for now.
