Expected behavior

Allow efficient reading, displaying, and processing of Glacier ECV and Ice Sheet ECV features from ESRI Shapefiles datasets.

This includes:

• Allow selecting geometries on 3D globe #489

Actual behavior

Shapefiles can be imported by we currently have no means to process and analyse the data efficiently. Also display of large amounts of vector data read from Shapefiles is very ineffective.

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Use read_geo_data_collection operation to read an e.g. Glaciers CCI Shapefile
2. Find no operations to analyse the data
3. In Cate Desktop, see how polygons only very slowly appear at the north pole
