Checklist

  • I'm reporting a problem with Chatterino
  • I've verified that I'm running the most recent nightly build or stable release
  • I've looked for my problem on the wiki
  • I've searched the issues and pull requests for similar looking reports

Describe your issue

Hi,
I recently noticed that having the "Always on top" option enabled can cause the AMD Adrenalin overlay to flicker rapidly when having a game opened in fullscreen right beside the Chatterino window. The flickering is probably just a symptom of the problem itself and not specific to the AMD overlay, because the game also doesn't run as smooth when it happens, but idk.

In my case I noticed it when having Party Animals on fullscreen on my main monitor and Chatterino on my second monitor with its window border near the main monitor border (Screenshot1).
If I move the Chatterino window exactly 26 pixels to the left (Screenshot2) then the flickering stops. Any less and it comes back.

Maybe it's worth looking into. But I also didn't notice this issue with any other game for now and maybe it's an issue with the game itself. Just this specific amount of pixels seemed odd to me...

On first glance I'd say this is more likely of a problem with the overlay. However Windows can be janky with fullscreen and maximized windows and it could be our fault.
In any case more testing on when and with what this happens. Does this happen with other overlays (like Discord's) preferably ones that draw things on top of the game as new windows not in-process window magic (cough steam)? Does this happen with other games or fullscreen programs with overlays running?

So I just tested it with a disabled AMD overlay (killed the corresponding process and renamed the file so it can't restart) and you can def still notice the slight stuttering that would come with the flickering. So it seems that the overlay really is not source of the issue. I'll try to test it with other games and software. But as stated above, I can't recall noticing this in any other scenario
