This is something that several cities around the world are trialling.

There are two variants:

Bits of opposite-direction lanes are reserved for busses dynamically (this would tie in to the experimentations in Cars Pulling Over for Emergency Vehicles (Emergency Vehicle Evasion - EVE) #64 )
At certain times, designated lanes become dedicated bus lanes (sort of like a 'tidal lane' for busses New feature---Tidal Lane?? #122 )
