Need

As a customer ordering UMI analysis in balsamic which by default does 3,1,1 filtering on UMI family size I would like to save money on my order by not doing unnecessary filtering of reads on the normal sample. The normal sample is used to filter out germline variants and in a lesser extent artefact somatic variants called in both tumor and normal sample. The 3,1,1 filtering is applied to ensure that the reads used to call somatic variants are reliable and of high quality, this extra quality should not be required of the normal sample and could be skipped.

Suggested approach

Just do UMI collapse on the normal sample in the UMI workflow, remove UMI family size filter.
