We are seeing requests for IPv6 ingress points for customer applications. For example, the IRS requires an IPv6 endpoint before agreeing to use a service.
Application Gateways (AGWs) now allow dual-stack configurations with both IPv4 and IPv6 IPs assigned. TF may not yet support the dual stack functionality, but when it becomes available, dual-stack configurations should be the default for internet facing AGWs.
AGWs must be built from the ground up with dual-stack enabled. It cannot be added later (at least as of 9/2024). To avoid rebuilding AGWs, dual-stack capabilities should be enabled at the start.
