Hello,
I'd like to thanks the contributors and the creator of this project because it's an amazing piece of software.

I wanted to discuss about webauth and/or u2f.

Currently if I'm not mistaken cockpit use PAM authentication, and just adding the u2f module to it work as intended, so it's not really useful for web authentication because it's seeking for a fido2 device on the server that host cockpit, not on the client browser.

On the previous Github page I saw someone doing a plugin to implement webauthn, he had asked few questions but didn't got any answer about this subject sadly. I think this person is not active anymore on this repository. I'd love to contribute about this, but it could be tricky/not a good idea to integrate it directly into cockpit so I wanted to get you thoughts.

Is there currently any plans about this ?
