Looking at my notes from a meeting with the Google pathways team, we were given a heads up that the following will be added to their Job Training spec:

programType
The type of educational or occupational program. For example, classroom, internship, alternance, etc..

We don't have a great match for this in CTDL.

I think it's not currrently covered by ceterms:instructionalProgramType which seems to be more about classification against CIP or similar

It correlates with but is not the same as ceterms:deliveryType and that already maps to educationalProagramMode

It correlates with but is not the same as ceterms:learningMethodType, but it's more about the program as a whole, a program may encompass many learning methods

By analogy to how different types of credential are handled we could have subtypes of LearningOpportunity (Apprenticeship, Internship, ClassroomBasedProgramme etc),

Or we could use ceterms:instructionalProgramType with different concept scheme (covering something that is quite different to what is covered by CIPs.

Or we could add a learningOpportunityProgramType/learningOpportunityType specially for this.

I'm not sure what Google want from this property, in any case I think we'll have to wait until we can discuss it further with them and maybe see what value set they recommend.

I would need to see a full(er) list of values that google expects this field to have, since it looks like it's probably an aggregation of both deliveryType and learningMethodType.

This appears to be handled by our ceterms:LearningMethod and ceterms:Delivery vocabularies.

Adding this to the next milestone so we can evaluate it.

It was motivated by the Google pathways work, which is no longer a priority.

Can this be closed? If anything, you'd just use ceterms:classification I think.

yes, probably. Also the initial context of mapping to Google seems to have dropped off our priorities (and theirs).
