UPDATE: QGC does not freeze permanently. It seems to freeze perhaps while it is downloading parameters but eventually recovers. This can be in as little as 10 seconds but sometimes it takes a few minutes.

UPDATE2: the issue persists in QGC-4.4 (beta testing here)

With the Japan firmware at least, QGC freezes (aka locks up) and becomes temporarily unresponsive if the connection between the ground unit and vehicle and is then restored.

Method to re-create the issue:

  1. Power up herelink ground unit and airunit
  2. Open QGC on herelink and confirm QGC is connected to the vehicle
  3. power-down the vehicle and confirm the ground unit becomes "connection lost"
  4. power-up the vehicle and confirm the ground unit momentarily connects to vehicle. QGC should then lock-up and become unresponsive. It will eventually recover but could take 10 seconds or >1minute.

GroundUnit Firmware: JPRU01230720
AirUnit Firmware: AU01230714
