What does this PR do?
Allows to override metric type if the provided type is invalid or absent via the
type_overridesclass member. Overrides have effect both on protobuf and text formats. If the type name is invalid, the override is ignored.Motivation
Some prometheus source don't specify type information in the text format. We can't reliably report on
untypedmetrics, so we'll need to force a type in the checks. See https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/35028
