LRR's archive titles not updating after filename change

I have quite a large collection. After running some scripts cleaning up my archive's filenames, mostly by shortening them and standardizing artist names, LRR isn't picking up the new changes and still retains the old filenames as the title. Cleaning up the database, cache, and rescanning doesn't address the issue.

Is there a way to save the new changes without re running the metadata plugins and preserving the existing metadata? If not could this feature be taken into consideration? How hard of a lift would this be to implement if I wanted to contribute?
