Fully transparent:
aliasing

Partial transparency (literally 1/255 alpha):
partial_transparency

Looks like an edge case specifically for 0 alpha

Okay now I'm confused. I remember reading something about RGB information leaking into alpha channels or something somewhere. Think that's what's happening here. Text shows u8 background colors:
