I think that the answer depends on exactly which physical processes you would like to capture in these simulations, and over which timescales. Do you know what physical processes are key for these simulations? Do you have a reference that describes the physics of the capillary discharge?
Also: it might be that using a fluid code (e.g. an MHD code) would be more efficient than using a PIC code (like WarpX) for this type of problem, unless you have reasons to think that kinetic effects (not captured by fluid codes) are important here.
