How does it do variant titles and multiple authors?

MARC research first --

Re: authors, in MARC, there is a main author (in 1XX), used for the first author listed, and 7XX is used for additional authors. (https://library.noaa.gov/Services/Technical-Services/Technical-Services-Manual/ArtMID/2645/ArticleID/165/MARC-1XX-7XX-Main-Added-Entry-Fields)

For titles, 245 is the Title statement. This is more than just the title:

"Title Statement field consists of the title proper and may also contain the general material designation (medium), remainder of title, other title information, the remainder of the title page transcription, and statement(s) of responsibility. The title proper includes the short title and alternative title, the numerical designation of a part/section and the name of a part/section. "

Varying titles go in 246, previous titles can go in 247
