No means of providing input for tasks on frontend

Some tasks require user input to run successfully, but there is no mechanism for a user to provide input from the frontend. The current workaround is to use a helper file in the data directory with necessary information/data to run a task but it would often be preferable to be able to run a task without interacting with the data directory.
