There is a well-known tool called RM Tool, which basically scans the project and allows you to remove resources that are not being used in the project.

In the database, there are several tabs incorporating the following structure:
I don't know if it would be feasible to have the ability, in addition to increasing/decreasing the maximum, to delete independent records by right click or even in batch with click + shift. I imagine this would involve updating each of the IDs of those records.
Probably the 2nd one is the most dangerous and there are probably on the way (or already integrated) much more user-friendly interfaces than those of 2k3 (or even later makers).
Maybe starting with these two proposals, the topic could be stay to add more ideas for the editor? What do you think?
