Summary

While voice tracking using RDLogEdit, under unknown conditions, the currently-loaded log gets truncated and must be regenerated.

Details

  • generate a log with RDLogManager
    • the Rivendell Clocks contain a single Event with a Top of Hour ID Cart in the Pre-Import section, and "Import from Music" in the Import section
  • merge music (and traffic) from external music scheduler (Music Master)
  • load log in RDAirPlay and commence playout
  • while log is playing, open the Voice Track module in RDLogEdit
  • record a voice track
  • repeat recording and placing voice tracks

After recording and placing several voice tracks, the remainder of the merged items in the log disappear. Discreet Rivendell events (e.g., Top of Hour ID) remain in the log, along with merge markers, but the actual contents from the merged log are gone as shown below.

In order to recover from this situation, the log must be regenerated and re-merged using RDLogManager, then re-loaded into RDAirPlay.

Unfortunately, this behavior is unpredictable. I have not been able to reliably reproduce the effect.

Nothing special is in the system journal or in the Rivendell logs in /var/log/rivendell.
