Support for icon libaries that do not use the <i> tag, e.g. Google Material Icons?

Hi, first of all I'd like to thank you for the amazing work you do with this project! I have been using it for a long time now.
At the moment I find myself working on a project that uses Google's Material Icon library for its icons.
The problem with this library is that it does not use the <i> tag, but uses <span> like this:

<span class="material-icons">calendar_month</span>

Is there a possibility of changing the configuration of the datepicker icons in a way that lets you supply the whole tag, not just the name of the icon?

This should be pretty easy to create a plugin. You'd just have to overwrite _iconTag

If I get some time I might create an example of this. If you try it for yourself let me know if you get stuck. If you get it work, I'd accept a PR to add it to the plugins.
