Action Performed:

  1. Open NewDot in mobile browser
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Check your avatar at top right

Expected Result:

It shouldn't take much time and you should see gray background untill it loads

Actual Result:

The avatar doesn't show up for few seconds

@arielgreen @kadiealexander you both got assigned cuz the Bug label just started working for assignment this morn. Unassigning both cuz it's an image related issue and I've added it to the tracking issue ^ that I'm BZ for

@Beamanator how does this issue differ to #11425 that we have already for grey avatars when waiting on the server response in common mobile flows? I think this is ultimately a dupe, so we should close it.
