Current Behavior

Hi,

I'm having trouble updating or deleting a created library, and I haven’t been able to resolve it. Please see the attached video for reference.

I’ve tried performing the action on both Web and Desktop (Mac) with the same results.

Additionally, I noticed an issue when converting any project into a library. If the project contains a collection with the rule "Users Collection", the library is created successfully, but the rule gets deleted, leaving it empty. There's no clear way to update it with a suitable alternative (such as "Tagged Users" for user document creation).

The same issue occurs when creating a library from scratch. If I create a "users" collection and then add sub-collections, what rules should be applied for Create, Read, Edit, and Delete permissions?

Any guidance on resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Expected Behavior

Expected Behavior Library Management

  • Ability to import, update, and delete libraries without restrictions or errors.

Users Collection with Safe Rules

  • When creating a Users Collection in a library, it should automatically include safe default rules (similar to the "Users Collection" behavior in projects).
  • These rules should ensure secure handling of user data while maintaining flexibility for future modifications.

Seamless Integration Across Projects

  • The Users Collection should be importable into other projects without losing rules or requiring manual reconfiguration.
  • Collections converted into a library should retain their original access rules, preventing unintended permission issues.

This ensures a smooth workflow for managing libraries and user collections across multiple projects as intended.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create New Project
  2. Create New Separate Project Library From Scratch
  3. Import in project

Reproducible from Blank

  • The steps to reproduce above start from a blank project.

I had to delete the entire project because there was absolutely no way to remove, add, or update the dependencies. I tried everything, editing and republishing them, clearing all cookies, switching between web and desktop, and even adding the project as a Team Access project on both sides. Nothing worked.

On top of that, I discovered additional bugs in the libraries. For instance, if there's a dependency issue in a custom library, you won’t receive any warning. This means you could spend hours searching through all your projects, trying to figure out what’s causing the problem.

The same problem, the library functionality is broken. There is no way to roll back or update versions. In the version list, only Current is visible.

@stasik0808 by luck I first test it on couple of dummy project and not used on any of the productions apps. Eventually had to resort to just delete the project. Now I am trying to check if maybe the library works at least with only UI elements only (no data type, no collections, etc). Will see.

Hello!

This seems like a delicate issue, but I wasn't able to replicate it using a new blank library and project. If you're still experiencing this problem, please reach out to our support team via the in-app chat or at support@flutterflow.io.

@Alezanello
I am clarifying the request as the update is now available from the web version but still not available from the desktop version.
Most likely there was an update to fix this issue.

Hello ! I have the same issue :/

My project indicates 48 errors because libraries are no longer found. It happened after I deleted them from the dependancies but they still appear in the UI. I wanted to delete them because dependancies names are not synced after updating the library name. So I think the bug might be coming from renaming your libraries.

How can we solve this ? Thanks !

I could not find any solution but to just delete the project...

@Alezanello

I’m considering importing the UIKato library into a production app. This library contains only standalone components, data type, app states, functions, no collections, no external dependencies, no reliance on specific documents or collections.

Before proceeding, I need to ensure that it’s safe to do so, as I cannot afford to get stuck like in my previous project or wait an extended time for fixes.

Could you please provide a simple yes or no answer on whether it’s safe to proceed? Or would it be better to wait for FF to release more updates and further test their libraries?

Here’s the bug report code that links to the library: ITFfzufl4otNxMsA1oSIK+xWjjsUJkccTIMziNZ+exUbfaL1Buwue8jBcVVuTbSoaVNfeE78/WoEwMrsjtnQU/IDCyydb6pi+M9cUg30e2inRpSRPIeWQEZBGcFYf3ax0bW7swpROtNidEY+wHGECunJYBbDFOu/Zwh9f6PHaOI=.

Hello everyone!

This issue specifically affects the Windows Desktop version. You can select the correct library version, upgrade it, or remove it from dependencies without any issues using the Web or macOS versions.

I've already reported this to the engineering team for a fix. In the meantime, please use the Web version for these updates.

Thanks for your patience!

@Alezanello @nathankrishnan @stasik0808 the issue is on Mac as well, not sure about Windows as I don't use it. I'm using Mac Book Air, Sequoia 15.3.2, all my above video screen recordings have been done on Mac when opened the Bug, also when that happened I obviously also tried to delete the lib from Chrome FlutterFlow instead of using the Desktop app, but did not work just the same, same when trying to delete cookies, etc. Cheers guys

Same problems as @Kato-Official

@stasik0808 thanks for providing the Windows client version you were using. This is also the same version that @Alezanello was using. We will investigate.

@Kato-Official I'm not able to reproduce the behavior you showed in the video on our macOS client with a new project + importing a package + then deleting it. As a result, it's possible that some other operations were performed prior to the video recording. When you get the chance, can you grant me access to your project (nathan@flutterflow.io)?

@CorentinPapernest: when I initially read this thread I thought that you were experiencing the same behavior as @stasik0808 on Windows. Now that I know you're using macOS I suspect your issue may be different and related to renaming libraries. Would you be able to create a separate issue for this and share your bug report code in that issue? That will help us track that.

Hey @nathankrishnan hope all’s well, and thanks for the reply!

As mentioned in my earlier messages, I had to delete the application — unfortunately, there was no other way to remove the imported, unusable libraries.

@CorentinPapernest & @nathankrishnan just wondering, is there a reason to create a separate issue when this was originally reported as a Mac OS issue? Also, could you please update the tags on this bug to include both Mac and Web, since the issue occurs across all three platforms and primary reported for Mac & Web?

Appreciate the support, keep me posted. Cheers!

@Kato-Official thank you and hope all is well. Apologies, this thread got somewhat sidetracked with the Windows issue reported in the comments. Both @Alezanello and @stasik0808 were able to reproduce that on Windows, so we will definitely investigate that on Windows. With regards to the issue you experienced on macOS, I am unsure how to reproduce it. Perhaps let me ask a clarifying question: did you: import a library (A) into the project (B), from the library (A) update the name of a custom code function + publish an update to the library, then from the project (B) attempt to update the library version to the newly published version and then experienced the issue? I acknowledge the behavior you showed in the video is an issue, I'm just trying to figure out how to consistently reproduce it so we can investigate further.

@nathankrishnan Thanks for the quick reply!

As far as I can recall (this is all from memory, so please don’t quote me on it 😅), here’s what I did:

  • I had my main project with all the data types, functions, app states, etc.

  • I duplicated that project—much faster than creating a new one and redoing everything manually. I renamed the duplicated project.

  • I published the duplicated project as a library.

  • I then created a separate project to test the library (just to be safe and avoid importing it directly into my main project).

  • I imported the library into the test project—everything worked fine at that point and also imported another library (mostly just UI previously created).

  • I made a few updates to the library, republished, and reimported it multiple times without any problems.

  • Then, all of a sudden, it stopped working when I tried to update the library in the test project.

Not sure what caused it to break, but I hope this context helps!

@nathankrishnan Thanks for your reply. I already submitted a ticket to support@flutterflow.io as you suggested earlier in the thread. I interacted with Max on the topic and gave more details in a video. I also think it's related to renaming the libraries. Should I still create a new issue on github ?

Thanks !

Hi @nathankrishnan & @Alezanello, hope you are both well. I was wondering if the above mentioned were solved with the latest update and now safe to be used in productions projects?
