Current Behavior

Issue raised on FF Forums but raising a formal bug report instance here to ensure its being logged/monitored for a hopefully urgent fix as this is impacting how I test and view my app: https://community.flutterflow.io/ask-the-community/post/icons-not-showing-in-run-mode-khJjZBU0YM4WUil

Prior to the recent FF update, all the Widget Icons I used within my app worked and displayed as expected in the editor/preview mode. Currently now, if I run a test mode, run mode builds or even load an already built version from last week/last month etc, all these icon widgets are gone with no replacement.

It seems something may have changed with the FF update that is not correctly loading the relevant package for icons or something similar?

Expected Behavior

All Widget added Icons should display in the run/test builds. It's strange that even prior built versions that have already had their code compiled also don't display though.

Steps to Reproduce

Am not sure if this only applies to existing projects and if it wouldn't be an issue on a brand new project but in anycase if trying to reproduce it would be:

  1. Add Icon widget to page
  2. Select run or test mode
  3. When the build is compiled and loaded, the icon won't display/be visible

Reproducible from Blank

  • The steps to reproduce above start from a blank project.

Hello!

Thanks for reporting this issue.

It appears to be a duplicate of an existing report: Issue #3681. I’ll go ahead and link both issues together and bump the original for visibility.

From my testing, this seems to affect only the Run Build feature. It doesn’t impact Test Mode or the published app, so it shouldn’t block any deployments.

Let me know if you’re seeing anything different!

Here is a public project you can duplicate and test: https://app.flutterflow.io/project/qa-3964-0lj4bj

@Alezanello - thanks for reverting, my concern however is that duplicate issue you linked was from August 2024 (nearly 8 months ago). Myself and all the others on that forum link have only experienced this from the last Flutterflow update so something has clearly changed to make this happen in that update.

As I said, I cannot see my icons in both the test mode run and also full run when building on the desktop app, meaning I have no easy way of seeing how my functioning app looks unless I fully outright publish it, in my opinion this is a critical bug that should be a priority to fix given it’s directly impacting the visual UI of is assessing how our apps look.

Hello again!

Could you please share a screenshot of the Test Mode? I wasn’t able to replicate the issue there—I’m only seeing the error in Run Mode.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Alezanello - as an update, I can now confirm test mode works as intended with the icons showing, and it's just run mode which still has them vanished. Do you know if there's been any update from the team on addressing this for run mode as due to the size/complexity of my app, I usually have to test within run mode over test mode as it'll freeze on test mode so having the icons gone for this does hamper my ability to properly assess how my app looks and runs.

Hi! I understand the issue you're facing, and I know it can be frustrating.
Your case is currently being reviewed by the engineering team, and I’ll make sure to keep you updated as soon as there’s any progress.

Best regards
