Does icon-envelope do it for you? Or did you have some else specific in mind?

@lichtamberg you are probably right.

The reason for this name is that Font Awesome is supposed to be an alternative set of icons for twitter bootstrap, it inherited the icon-envelope name from glyphicons :)

Ah, alright thanks :)

Using envelope for email leaves nothing for indicating physical mail...?

you can use envelope for physical emails too but I probably didn't get the point.

I mean, you need to distinguish between physical mail and email in your application?

Yes. In a way regular people will understand (so different coloured envelopes isn't a solution).

I'm puzzled that this appears to be an obscure requirement. :/

this could be a solution for you #1101

you can implement it by yourself

.icon-at:before {
  content: "@";
  font-weight: bold;
}

Thanks, that'll work. Though I don't understand the comment on one of the issues linked from 1101 saying common symbols shouldn't be included - there are already ? ! + - × and several others, so don't see why those are included whilst at/percent/hash are not. Meh.

In fact ! and ? have not the same height (see #1510)

I suppose common symbols are not included because of ", &, /, (, ), =, ^, [, ], {, }, |, \, ,, ;, ., :, -, _, §, *, and the whole unicode set :)

btw Dave is keep listening, maybe there will we be a release that will focus on all the commons symbols

I've just searched for font-awesome email icon on google and come to this page. Why there is no alias for email?
