Add the ability to organise subscriptions into nested folders #800
Comments
Hi, so we are already providing profiles to categorize your subscriptions. However within the profiles you cannot categorize again. |
I can't see even 1 layer of categorisation currently on v0.9.2 unless I'm missing something. |
Click on the icon in the top right and click on the "Settings" icon that pops up. From there you can create "Profiles" to organize your subscription list. |
Ah I see now, thanks. I'd still like for nested folder organisation however though as I have a lot of subscriptions. |
I think this is not very useful for FreeTube at the moment, because the UI must be revamped to allow a useful integration for this kind of behavior. |
I know this is an old topic, but I'd like to throw a +1 on this idea. I like my music subscriptions organized by genre, and I think this would be a really nice way of dealing with that type of organization. As it stands, I have a bunch of prefixed profile names to simulate this behavior ('Music - Synthwave', 'Music - Classical', 'Music - RnB', ...), but it'd be nice to be able to put all my music profiles into a folder to reduce the clutter in my profiles dropdown. FWIW, my current method of organization is quite inconvenient, because there is no sorting applied to profiles; they show up in the order they were created. Either manual or automatic lexical ordering would seem good to me. As a hack, I've tried editing Edit: I just wanted to mix a little positivity into my comment and say that I think FreeTube is a great app! Thank you folks for all the hard work you've put in to creating this! |
+1 for this idea, on other open source social media frontends (i.e. Fritter, Newpipe), being able to group and categorized accounts that you follow into nested folders is incredibly useful for categorizing what is new. |
Is your feature request related to a usage problem (not a bug)? Please describe.
I use PocketTube browser extension to organise my YouTube subscriptions currently and it allows for nested folders to sort all my subscriptions into. I'd like that feature to be available for FreeTube instead.
Describe the solution you'd like to see implemented
Basically just copy the PocketTube UI.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Only alternative is using PocketTube itself but I'd like to use FreeTube for obvious reasons.
