With multiple items selected, shift-clicking on an mesh will remove it from the current selection.
However, shift-click or shift-click-drag on bounding boxes, cameras, etc does not remove them from the current selection.

In the node graph, shift clicking does work, but shift-click-drag to deselect multiple nodes does not work.

Seems like it might be two problems combined

Closing, since "shift click to deselect" is now working in the viewer for bounding boxes, cameras etc. Please feel free to open a new ticket for the unrelated "shift-click-drag in node graph".
