A very useful functionality would be to introduce on all PCBs, test points for checking the electrical condition of selected signals.
I can suggest test points for:
Vcc 5V,
Vcc 3.3 V,
Vcc 12V,
GND,
TxD, at µC pin,
RxD, at µC pin,
Reset, at µC input
X_STEP,
Y_STEP,
Z_STEP,
E0_STEP,
E1_STEP,
E2_STEP,
X_DIR,
Y_DIR,
Z_DIR,
E0_DIR,
E1_DIR,
E2_DIR,
HE0,
HE1,
HE2,
T0,
T1,
T2,
and others that seem to make sense when testing and repairing the controller board.
