Use keyboard to play games

I would be great to be able to use the keyboard to play games. Some of them require us to use a sort of directional pad to move, and it makes it impossible to play if also needs to press some button on the other side of the screen, it would be great if was possible to emulate using keyboard that function, or to emulate a controller using my keyboard.
