Originally posted 2016-10-20 20:07:15.371000 by ivimano in GrandOrgue discussion forum on SourceForge There is a (not too big) problem with the recent version. Under windows 7,8,10 if the "load last file at startup" box checked, when Grandorgue started, the splash screen cover the progress bar, and only disappear after the sampleset fully loaded. Is there any solution for this problem? |

Hi all!
2 years ago I built a Grandorgue powered virtual organ in my church. The church built in 1926, but the parish never had enough money to purchase a real pipe organ. In 2000, we bought a Johannus Sweelinck 10 digital organ. The built-in sound source not the best, especially the reeds. 16’ Contra trumpet sounds like a broken speaker cone, and the whole instrument has a thin, fatique voice. The sweelinck 10 have an 5 channel amplifier system, with internal and external speakers. The external enclosures placed behind the altar, totally covered by the altar picture, the console sitting in the choir. In 2004 I found the Grandorgue software, and Lars Palo’s pretty good samplesets. So, I decided to upgrade the whole organ thing. I want to mimic a real organ as close as possible. First, I had to disconect the inside sound source. After some thinking and planning, I made a 6.1 speaker system, with 2 subwoofer, driven by 8 separate power amps. Because the speakers are different types, it took a lot of work with the crossovers to achieve equal results.
The computer :
Lenovo M58
Celeron 3300 dual core CPU
4Gb Ram, 160Gb SATA hdd
M-audio delta 1010Lt sound card
Wireless mouse, Genius mini keyboard
Windows xp, 17” Tft display.
grandorgue 3.1.1624
Boot and loading time takes approx. 1,5 mins.
I made a composite sampleset for the organ, all samples taken from Lars Palo’s samplesets, with some eq-ing applied. If anyone interested, I will upload a composite set to our web storage. The sustain of the samples is set to 350ms, the rest is done by the church’s acoustics.
Since 2014 the virtual organ working flawlessly, never had a blue screen, frozen application or audio problems. We made a simple organ case to cover the speakers, the woodwork not the prettiest, there is a possible place for some improvements.
So, I would like to say: thank you for this awesome software, and for the great samplesets!
Pictures from the organ is in our church’s webpage, at the bottom of the page.
Best regards:Ivan
