Extend Trait Type

Is there a way to extend a Trait Type? As far as I could see on the docs, I can define a new Trait Type but I have to write pretty much all of the functionality from scratch.

In my case, I just want the Select Trait Type to recieve a "readony: true | false" parameter (and apply it to the element on the view).

kind of my bad regarding this particular case...
there was an attributes key one can set to the trait like this:

traits = [
          {type:'select',
            label:'Source',
            name:'datasrc',
            full:true,
            attributes:{ readonly: true},     // <- THIS RIGHT HERE
            options:[
              {id:'',name:'None'}
              {id:'pages',name:'Pages'},
              {id:'products',name:'Products'}
            ]
          },

but that won't actually put the readonly attribute to the <select> element, but instead to the wrapper trait div .gjs-trt-trait__wrp

anyway, that was good enought for me... I just added the following to my css
.gjs-trt-trait__wrp[readonly] select{pointer-events:none;}

Still, if I were to extend some Trait Type, is there a way to do it?
