The table has ingredient_id as PM and FK, I don't understand how it's possible?

it's a debatable thing. for now i think we should keep in mind only this:
one user can have many favorite ingredients, but right now we cannot specify an ingredients(it can be done later by introducing Items like an addition to our current scheme).

i think some of the details, about favorites, was explained at an article that I wrote with my previous DB Architect intern
