I'm using latest brew and brew cask

> brew cask list
flux         itools   java         libreoffice  spectacle    vagrant      virtualbox   vlc
> brew cask remove spectacle
Error: spectacle is not installed
> brew cask list spectacle
Warning: spectacle is not installed
Error: nothing to list

Known bug. A fix is being worked on.

@vitorgalvao can we start adding some kind of "master bug" label to frequently-duplicated bugs such as #2988? I often can't find them.

"master bug" is a probably a poor name, as it suggests "master branch". Ideally, it would be something obvious to users who are filing issues.

@nvdv, thanks for taking the time to make a report. This is an architectural limitation; we are growing new architecture to fix it.

I definitely like that idea. What about “chief bug”? It’s strong enough to denote it’s the “leader”, but tame enough to be understood it’s the main one of a section (as opposed of the entire project).
