Moving to PostgreSQL
Data created by Machine Learning for Kids users is stored in a MySQL database.
The database host in the cloud where the site is hosted is withdrawing their support for MySQL in September 2020, which means the site needs to move to a new database.
The database host are offering PostgreSQL as an alternative, so I will be moving Machine Learning for Kids across to use that.
I will need to put the site into a read-only mode while I perform the migration (exporting the data from MySQL, creating a new PostgreSQL database to hold it, importing the data into it).
I plan to start doing this on Saturday 8th August at 1pm (UK time). It may take several hours, as there is a large amount of data that I need to move.
Pretrained models will still be usable during this time, but custom projects will not be accessible until the migration is complete.
Sorry for any inconvenience that the downtime might cause!
