Self-explanatory. This may be a one-off, but we decided to open a dedicated issue for this task as part of 6.4 - because we may have missed a couple of bugs in the recent releases that a carefully performed smoke test would have caught.

OK, closing.
The actual testing I performed was very informal/unstructured. I just tried to roughly follow what Kevin used to do. We need to design and document an actual comprehensive checklist going forward.
