The Sumitomo F70 Compressor (see manual in usual place) has a DB-25 port for diagnostics, this ticket is to investigate if this can be controlled/monitored by using something like a moxa ioLogik box to apply voltages to the relevant pins.

There is a DB9 connector on the compressor that accepts serial commands, but this needs a firmware update (to version 1.6 or higher) and a new board installed by the manufacturer (we have an IOC for this approach from ORNL - see #5086 ). Until this option is available, see if the DB25 can provide enough functionality.

Acceptance criteria

  • can correct voltages be applied/monitgored
  • contact Johnny (EMU) for specifics of what they need to control or monitor
