Since you have a reserved area of exactly 3K, have you considered providing an API to allow a user app to store non-volatile data?

I've thought about it but then I've realised that that's not the purpose of this bootloader. Creating such API will be easy probably, but that's something a user can make for himself in the Aplication Flash region.
If I decide to rewrite the bootloader to add more functionalities, I will think about it. It will be available through different header file probably.
