It is great to have PDF Annotations as a tab, however, it would be great to provide a reference to these annotations in a form of a field for preview entry. This would enable fancy modifications to preview entry, as well as a better one-page overview of the information (for example, while searching for notes, etc).

In other words: The setup of the entry preview should enable to show PDF comments.

We are group of students of the university of Basel and in our project we try to solve this issue. As we understand it, we are supposed to create a new tab for annotations, where a link to an annotation in a PDF can be found. Is this correct? Further we are not sure how the part about the preview is meant. Could you maybe explain this some more?
Thank you for the information!

For gathering some more background, I would recommend to fire-up Mendeley and get an impression how PDFs are handled in Mendeley.

This issue stronlgy relates to #6857. In this issue, the handling of a single entry preview is meant, whereas in #6857, the complete list is discussed.

Example: https://latextemplates.github.io/LNCS/

A user highlighted "modeling" (this time by LaTeX commands - typical use case is PDF annotation. You find examples at https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/tree/master/src/test/resources/pdfs

In the entry preview, the annotation and its context should be displayed. Example:

grafik

The rendered text should also be searchable.

Think of the preview as a grep -C 5 exampleHighlightedText nested in the entry preview

I also like the idea. They could then also used in the preview if they are stored as field
