JabRef version

Latest development branch build (please note build date below)

Operating system

GNU / Linux

Details on version and operating system

JabRef 5.4--2021-09-11--7e09d02 Linux 5.11.0-34-generic amd64 Java 16.0.2 JavaFX 17+18

Checked with the latest development build

  • I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
  • I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

  1. add new entry with the entry editor

  2. system randomly (?) uses very high CPU resources and JabRef seems to freeze. See Freeze after trying to edit bibtex entry details (threaddump available) #3129 ?

  3. setting Citation Key Generator to [auth4:lower]-[year] does not include the hyphen when used. See Citation key missing its hyphen #7013

The citation key generator problem with the hyphen, #7013, is now gone. I don't know if this was corrected in the code, or if something changed in my local setup. Anyhoo.

This was my stupidity. I had forgotten about the "remove the following characters" option.
