[References] References cannot be deleted and persist

I cannot remove references and they persist across all new models even after closing all tabs until closing and re-opening Blockbench

To repro:

Add reference image to this project only
Double click it.
Delete and confirm.
Image remains but opening any other new tab contains the reference in a non-clickable format.
Closing all tabs and opening a new tab has the image still remain
Closing BB and reopening clears the image
