Publish kubernetes-ingress-controller Docker image on Amazon ECR Public Gallery

Problem Statement

The Docker image for Kong Ingress Controller for Kubernetes is currently available from Docker Hub.

However, Docker has recently made Docker Official Images, including library/kong, available on Amazon ECR Public.

Amazon ECR Public offers a convenient and secure way to pull images in AWS environments, and having the KIC image hosted on Amazon ECR Public would present several advantages (lower latency, having all resources in the same failure zone etc.) to Amazon customers running Kong and KIC on Amazon EKS.

Please consider publishing the KIC image on Amazon ECR Public.

hi @pvalkone, we've begun the initial work to have the docker images be available on ECR. Today, they are currently available on DockerHub, we are currently in the process to also have them created on Amazon ECR.
