I just built the latest release from git and basically am trying things out the kicker for me sounds very static sounding and grainy.

I am on ubuntu 13.10

This turns out to be sounds for everything in general not just the kicker

This sounds like issue #158

Can we close this as it seems like a duplicate issue? (And one solved by selecting a different audio backend.)
