Just thinking: is it possible to add a search function so that a user can just type in a marker/QTL in an organism and marker/QTL is highlighted or brought into the center of the screen.

This is the along the lines of what I had in mind with #31, although in that context I was thinking more from the perspective of having a subset of features of interest that were being made prominent through interaction with tabular display. In fact @ctcncgr and I were talking yesterday about trying to push forward with the idea of a tabular component that could be plugged into not only cmap-js but also other contexts (e.g. GCV).
not exactly the same as a search feature, but the tabular view based on datatables that he has worked with in his reports has a filtering capability that is sort of like that.

Possible? Yes. Implementation, on the other hand, will depend quite a bit on how it is to be used, and how complex of a search is desired.

Ok -so it possible but implementation is important. Let's focus on getting the current enhancements done and we will discuss this issue in November or December some time.
