Demo apps should be clean examples

Noticed in helping someone on IRC that (for example) HelloPlaces doesn't use the new APIClient stuff. So if someone uses it as the basis for a new app, they won't have such an easy time doing local development. The example at https://singly.com/dashboard/develop#Develop-BuildAnApp has the right stuff, but then you have to start from scratch building the UI. It would be better if the demo apps were also good example code to start from.
