There appear to be a couple references in the template that reference a _version.py file - namely .gitattributes, and the last two lines of .codecov.yml These appear to be leftover from when the cookiecutter was using versioneer (before the switch to versioningit) - so unless I'm misunderstanding something, I believe we can remove these!
