Dear MIMIC-IV Community Members,

I am a physician currently working with the MIMIC-IV database to explore data related to hospital-acquired pneumonia. In order to identify patients diagnosed with pneumonia, I need to understand the specific time of diagnosis.

I have noticed that the procedures_icd table includes a field labeled chartdate. Could you kindly confirm whether this chartdate refers to the date when the patient was diagnosed with pneumonia during their hospital stay? Additionally, is this date considered sufficiently accurate, particularly in cases where the diagnosis is based on laboratory tests and imaging studies?
